About Becky Foster
Becky is a writer, journalist, and former public servant whose career has spanned journalism, law, government, and community service. She began writing in the early 1970s, covering local people and the music industry, writing record reviews and feature articles. Her work included an article published in Music City News, and she interviewed several well-known country music performers, including Donna Fargo, Bobby Bare, and Claude King.
During the mid-1970s, Becky interned with The Arizona Republic’s Western Arizona Bureau, where she covered a wide range of stories, including court proceedings, law enforcement activities, public meetings, high-profile criminal trials, jail escapes, drug investigations, and major breaking news events. Her reporting experience provided a firsthand look at the people and institutions that shape communities.
Beyond journalism, Becky has served as a court clerk, operated a legal transcription business, owned a private process service company, and completed two terms on the Mohave County Board of Supervisors. Her lifelong interest in people, public affairs, and real-life stories continues to inspire her writing.
Born and raised in Jacksonville, Florida, Becky developed an early appreciation for the natural world while growing up near the Atlantic Ocean. The beaches, salt air, and coastal landscapes of her childhood left a lasting impression that remains with her today. Although she has lived in Arizona since 1970, she still returns to Florida whenever she can and considers both places home.
Over the years, Becky has grown equally fond of the Southwest, especially the beauty of Arizona’s high desert. She often jokes that she has one foot planted in Florida’s sandy shoreline and the other in Arizona’s desert landscape. The contrast between those two worlds has shaped much of her perspective on life.
A lifelong observer of people and the stories they carry, Becky is fascinated by personal journeys, accomplishments, challenges, and the unexpected events that influence our lives. When she is not writing, she enjoys hiking, reading, exploring the outdoors, and spending time in the places that have inspired her throughout the years.
